These are trailers for the new Studio Ghibli film, The Borrower Arrietty, adapted from Mary Norton's 1952 novel The Borrowers. Norton's tale of the tiny people was filmed three times before, in 1973 (with Eddie Albert and Tammy Grimes), 1992 (with Ian Holm) and 1997 (with John Goodman, Hugh Laurie and Jim Broadbent).
The music is composed and sung by the French-Brettone multi-language singer and celtic harpist Cécile Corbel. Hiromasa Yonebayashi directed, and Hayao Miyazaki scripted and produced. Also see Mike Lynch Cartoons re the possibility of Studio Ghibli closing.
The Dr. Who serial Planet of Giants (1964) reminded of The Borrowers.
Miyazaki is an institution. We all love this guy and his work like life itself! Heck, I wanna live in the Totoro house, y'know (like so many other people do).
Money problems? Let him fund his next venture via Kickstarter, I say.
Scary that is this doesn't do well, then Studio Ghibli may close. More here:
