Gasoline Alley sequence (March-April 1934), Frank King established a single setting for all three Sunday strips. Each page shows the passage of time in a single image. The characters are carefully calibrated to fit into each frame, yet he couldn't resist a playful subversion of his own design concept, as revealed by the double pairs of shoes in panel ten of the March 25 strip.
