Here are the typical, clean-cut teenagers in Paul Robinson's Etta Kett (March 23, 1959). The strip ran from 1925 until two months after Robinson's death (September 21, 1974).
Not so clean-cut were the teens (below) in the Harvey Kurtzman/Bill Elder Eti Quette, from the second issue of Kurtzman's Trump (March 1957).
